Don’t tangle with 18 wheelers!

Crashes involving large trucks and semi rigs comprise an unreasonable number of motorway fatalities throughout the country. Many of these trucking accidents are the result of:

Violations of state and federal trucking regulations
Poor truck equipment/mechanized failure
Truck driver tiredness
Overladen trucks/ badly secured loads
Afflicted drivers

As a consequence of the massive size of these juggernauts, the injuries caused by a trucking pile up are often ruinous. These injuries may have all sorts of horrific consequences like head trauma concussion or brain damage, broken limbs, burns, scarring, defacement and all too often someone is killed.
The consequences for the victims of a truck crash, as well as the agony of their loved ones, are immeasurable and they occur frequently. People or their families that have suffered a terrible injury as the result of negligence, spite, or foolhardiness on the part of a trucker, you should brief Los Angeles Trucking Accident Lawyers. These attorneys will advise them of their rights and entitlements. It is their task to pursue the trucking company or its insurers for all your medical expenses, hospitalization and potential future treatment and care costs. In addition they may well be entitled to claim compensation for the pain and suffering undergone. This will be more so if there has been any mutilation, disfigurement or permanent disability inflicted.

And it is not only cars that can get damaged. In late June an Amtrak train from Chicago collided with a big rig in the Nevada desert which directly killed 6 people.

The big semi was in a 3 truck convoy and traveling probably too fast. On approaching the level crossing it must have seen the barriers and tried to stop, which resulted in a 100yard skid. It was unable to stop and hit the side of the train causing itself and two carriages to ignite.

The reason the driver failed to see the level crossing warning lights is unknown as unfortunately the driver was killed in the accident along with a conductor and 4 other passengers.

The accident itself was very horrific and much evidence was destroyed in the ensuing fire. The train actually dragged the rig about half a mile as it was traveling at nearly 80mph at the time of the crash.

The investigators stated that the cause of the accident would take some time, up to a year, to determine. But the record of the Nevada company that operated the truck was suspect as they have had a number of violations and citations for traffic and safety reasons over the last year.

The family of the deceased from the train as well as those actually injured and burned during the ensuing fire should contact a Los Angeles Trucking Accident Lawyer to ensure that they receive some compensation for their terrible losses. As it is Amtrak’s attorneys will certainly be in litigation with this company and the determination of liability will be crucial to any case.
